Strawberry Shortcake

Another quickie for a drawergeeks. Never was much of a Strawberry Shortcake fan when I was little, but she makes for a fun topic.

Such a cute design! Much better than the new redesign they are trying to push on kids.

Read John K's comments about that here: No New Ideas
I just don't know how you do it :(

Awe man, I loved Strawberry Shortcake, and I'm a guy. I had to keep those feelings in the closet. I would sneak into my sister's room and grab her dolls and just smell their hair.

That sounds kinda creepy now that I think about it. But those little heads smelled so fruity and delicious.

This design is really cool. It's a bit more grown up than the commercial version. A bit darker and a bit more real. I really like it.

Your work is so elegant! I just can't get over your sense of design when doing figurative subjects. Really wonderful.

Many compliments ...maybe you could draw something for my magazine ^_^!

I would most certainly watch the show if it held a design like this. The new version of her today makes Shortcake ultra modern and it's sort of a shame; Those legs are truly great!

beautifully realized. I hope to get one done this week, really. Yeah. Really. Of course yours counts for at least two if not more, so maybe I don't need to.

Your drawings are fabulous (as always. Jealous). Are you familiar with the YA author Shannon Hale? She has a hilarious blog entry that involves Strawberry Shortcake here: http://oinks.squeetus.com/2008/06/were-4.html . I laughed out loud. (Your version is SO much more appealing than the original).

Hey, Sarah -

I'm a nervous about showing this to a real artist, but check out my latest blog post: Hello. I posted a photo of a painting of mine, with some shots of the process I did to get there.

Hope all is well with you and the fam!
