Board Book Present

I spotted some blank board books at the art store and thought it would be fun to write a book for my daughter for a Christmas present. It's a sturdy book, but since the pages have a papery surface, rather than the smooth surface most board books have, I thought I'd better make the contents as toddler-proof as possible and used pen and ink. (Can you tell I inked the last page first as a test page?)

Also, happily, it seems my virusy art is salvageable! Hurrah! Thank you Robert for helping us run some scans!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Here's the rest of the book...

really awesome... great lesson in sharing... and how to share with bunnies and bears... now you should color it and bind it and make millions... and then write the next harry potter seven-ology... cause i need some good new audiobooks to listen to

A great Book!!!! I haven't laughed and cried so much at the same time for a while!
The faces ------ Grandpa has seen them all before. You captured Hazel's many expressions perfectly

A wonderful children's book. Its simplicity is its depth.
Yes colour it and get it to a publisher or self publish for next Christmas when you can do the sequel.

Awesome! I read this to my kids (4 and 5 years old) for bedtime story on Christmas, and they loved it. I hope you saved some high-res scans, because if experience has taught me anything, *nothing* is toddler-proof!

If you ever decide to print and sell this book, I'll definitely buy it. But if you'd rather keep it as a one-of-a-kind for your daughter, I totally respect that.

i find your work inspiring. It helps give me the motivation and desire to work harder at creating with the hope that some day I can develop it into something as respectable as your work.

Hey Sarah! Its Kenny again. You commented on my sketch blog a while ago. I wanted to say I love your book for your daughter. When she grows up, I'm sure it will be such a great keepsake for her!

I also thought I'd mention I tried a sketch with hands, and I also have a more realistic face up on www.inkennysshoes.blogspot.com now. Hope you can check it out and give me another comment!

Best wishes in all you do!

That's so strange. Like a deja'vu. I used to have a hat that I found. I liked it a lot. Then one day I lost it. Then one friend of mine found one hat - the same like the one I lost.....hmm.

So, I used these pictures and this story in my Spanish class that I teach to four-year-olds. The story wasn't changed in any big way, I just replaced the nouns with Spanish words. They loved it. I love it. You are the best. I go through drawergeeks.com just to find your stuff. Keep it up!
