Yule Ball Hermione

I'm rereading the fourth Harry Potter book. I love the Yule Ball scene. In it, Hermione wears floaty, girly dress robes, rather than a dress. I thought it might be fun to draw them. :)

Oh, wow! There's so much I love about this drawing -- the line work, colors, expressiveness, composition, pose, appeal... Just, wow!

Love the illustration, puts me in mind of Charles and W Heath Robinson. Never read a Harry Potter book but if you illustrated one in a similar style to this I'd be tempted.

At first I thought she was twirling around with her leg kicked out, the way ballerinas do. I was really shocked to see both her feet planted on the ground. You have a great talent, taking a still pose and infusing so much movement.

Love it. Cool idea to make give the robes a magical quality themselves... I never thought of that.
