Two Things

And posting again. First I posted my half finished painting, but it bothered me that it wasn't complete and couldn't afford to spend more time fixing it, so I pulled the post down. But determined to post something for Friday, here it is again and also a scribbly witch sketch so it's not right at the top of the blog annoying me all weekend :)

These are great, Sarah! From sketches to paintings, I like everything you put on here. One of my favorite blogs... if I haven't said that before.

I think they're both cute. :) Do you ever tweek the levels to bump up the contrast when you've reached a color stage like your ninja? I'm not sure what the process would be in Painter as I mostly work in PS. I made your picture really pop nicely IMO (it looks a bit faded or mostly medium tones at the moment) when I played with the levels on it. I promise, I deleted the results immediately...was just experimenting!

Both pieces are really great. The expression on the witch is wonderful, no candy? The face is really clear and detailed, and the clothing is also very defined and solid looking on the painting. However, I have to wonder about the lighting on the right hand. It seems a bit too dark.

Thanks everyone. It definitely feels like a small failure for me to run out of time this morning and end up with a painting that I don't think demonstrates much of what I learned this week. So thank you again for the kind encouragement. It has cheered me up some :)

That exhausted little witch reminds of how much work Trick or Treating used to be! A long night of candy extortion really wears a kid out!

Love the energy of the lines....especially the witch's hat brim.

Chin up, Sarah. I think we're all our own harshest critic.

That colored one is awesome, Scarah! One day I'll be as good as you...maybe. Are you gonna color the sad little witch? I'd love to see it colored. Hope your'e doing well. I gotta give you a call sometime. :D
Once again I find myself on your page completely speechless...great stuff. I just saw your stuff on Drawergeeks for Harry Potter...it rocks! I guess I am going to have to link you now on my page....thanks for the inspiration.
