Tried to do something a little more cartoony than I've done lately on the blog. I wanted to work on this longer, but must get to other work. Also, here's the new profile pic:

I was trying to draw an army guy this morning and accidently ended up with Pippi Longstocking. I think I could have made the colours of her dress more interesting. If anyone would wear an interesting dress, it'd be Pippi.

Since I just finished reading a cool book last night about Dinah (Joseph's sister) called "The Red Tent", I thought I'd draw a picture of this girl. Maybe our new cat Winter snuck into the pic too.

More dindle story!

Couldn't log in for some reason this morning... I think it's the whole switching to a new blogging format that the site is doing. Anyway :) Here's the colour version of Elvis!

Overslept today, so no colour. I may colour it for tomorrow though, since it's for Drawergeeks . Seems like the alien should be saying something to provoke Mr. Presley... Just noticed while posting that his right foot isn't on the groundplane anymore now that I sketched in the planet. Oops.

So I did this whole painting of a monster and then realized, yet again, what I thought I was painting on the cintiq, was in fact a disaster when I saw it on the laptop. Seems like the cintiq is crushing all my heavy black gradients together, making it pretty much like I'm always painting blind when it comes to darks. Even with the Dindle paintings, I find I have to mess with the contrast and saturation just to salvage a little of what I first intended. It's really frustrating, considering how crazy expensive the cintiq was and that I'm using the cintiq's own colour calibration settings. I've messed with the contrast and brightness and all the buttons I can find on it to no avail. Okay rant done :) Had to sketch something quick so I could still have a post for today. *update* So I called Wacom support and they sent me a new colour profile that didn't really change anything, so I think I have concocted a solution myself by hooking up my old Intuos tablet to the l...

More dindle story!

Wanted to colour this gentleman, but I should get going on the rest of my day :) I hope to get back to the Dindle story soon too.

I have to be way stricter with myself. The hour I'm supposed to spend on these blog drawings keep stretching into two or more. Tried to colour this in a new way. I kind of like the effect, but it was pretty tedious to do...

Eagh celebrity art. Reminds me of when I worked at a theme park doing portraits and we'd have to draw Brad Pitt and the Spice Girls all day from magazines... Anyway, I wanted to finally join in a drawing jam on the drawingboard though, so that meant sticking to the topic. I thought I might be able to disguise the lady in a slew of Halloween gear to make it a fun painting regardless, but her expression still screams "mmm mmm cheesecake" to me. Oh well. Next time round I'll make my drawing jam entry cooler.

Thought it was time for another page of the dindle story.

And here I thought colouring an existing drawing would be faster than drawing a new one today since I'm in a bit of a rush, so so wrong. Oh well, at least it's coloured now :)

Okay I spent a little longer then I should have on this, considering the day of pencilling madness I have ahead of me, but I was having fun. I didn't think I was going to get around to doing a drawergeeks this week either, so hurrah :)

I was going to put the dindle story off for a week or so, because I suddenly have a pretty hard deadline to meet (for something comic-related super exciting that I'll share soon! Hurrah!) But since Alex asked so politely, here is part nine.

I was going to tackle the next dindle painting today, but since I got up at five am (for non-kitten reasons) I'm too sleepy to make anything look pretty. So instead, here's a quick sketch...

I think taking a fairy break yesterday was a good idea, this morning's painting came together pretty painlessly. Yay!

Everyone has been so patient with my crazy-digital-painting-in-an-hour dindle story, so I thought I'd take a little break today with something different. I'll finish up the dindle story by posting the paintings for it every other day :)

I don't like today's as much as some of the others, but there is always tomorrow to paint something nicer :)

I know I said I'd post a graphic novel page today too, but it was all lies! Actually, I just want to tweak it some more. Soon I'll post another...
